A project done for a client to improve the user experience and immersion of an existing VR app. The application introduced locomotion, complex interactive games with a therapeutic purpose, sound and music, pause menu logic, a progress system, and a fully immersive natural environment. The think aloud user research sessions and a mood scale questionnaire revealed a significant decrease in negative moods after the experience and an increase in positive moods. The participants commended the calming environment and the sense of progress they felt. A research paper is currently being pursued for publication and a white paper of it can be provided on request.
Basic Introspective Mood Scale (BIMS) Before and After Using the App
The application was built with Unity 3D for Oculus Go. The requirements for the application were to improve the experience without interfering with the therapy protocol described by a user journey document. User research was conducted with the initial product to determine points of improvement and later with the newer version of the application to compare results with the first one.
